Has anyone have success with Symbicort? Thinking about switching to it. Any comments will help me make a decision.

I like it. I've tried Fostair, but it wasn't as good as Symbicort for me. However I am aware that some people find the opposite to be true. Different people respond differently to different inhalers & you just have to find the one that suits you best.

Lakelover is correct that the right inhaler is a very personal thing so while Symbicort works well for some people (me included), others will think it's the worst inhaler in the world. It's worth trying different ones if your current inhaler isn't giving enough control (GP or nurse might have other suggestions too) but bear in mind that a new inhaler takes time to kick in properly, usually a couple of weeks, and then further time (some 6-8 weeks) so be fully embedded - so making decisions quickly on its efficacy isn't advisable.

I’ve been on Symbicort for about a year now, and have found it very good.

Best wishes.

I've used it interchangeably with Advair for 20 years and both work for me (it's usually about what insurance will cover or what my current pulmonologist prefers) but we all have such different bodies and lungs. I think all you can do is try it and see if it works for you!

I think as other people have said, it's just deciding what works for you - try it and keep your usual medication in reserve in case it doesn't work. I've tried Symbicort and Foster and neither worked as well as Seretide so I just stay on that.

I came off Symbicourt as it wasn't helping. I ended up on the maximum dose (200/6) but my asthma just got worse. The doctor added a LAMA inhaler and that did help.

Eventually my asthma nurse listened to my woes about Symbicourt and switched me to Fostair. I feel much better on it. Asthma nurse said that I suited the finer particles.

I must admit that I notice my asthma flare if I rush taking my inhalers - I have to watch my technique as I use dry powder. Shallow inhalation and not holding my breath really means I don't get the benefits of a full dose. Keeping those shoulders down and using the diaphragm is something I have to focus on.

Another happy Symbicort (200/6) user here.

I have been using it for many years now and although once changed to another inhaler (cost cutting?) I was not happy (least because the new one kept sticking) and requested a swap back to Symbicort, which was accepted.

These medications need to suit the individual so it could be trial and error until settling on something that suits you.

A cooperative asthma nurse/GP is helpful here!

I'm afraid I'm unimpressed with Symbicort. I've been told to use it in place of Ventolin. As everyone knows, with Ventolin you get an immediate effect, with Symbicort you don't. I think I'll be changing at my next consultation... unfortunately that's in January. Never mind.
