After 20 odd years with BT since dial up days I have used there internet for Emails.
They have now Emailed me to say I must change my settings now or I will no longer be able to send and receive Emails.
At 83 years I am not au fait with all the protacol lingo- but unable to ask any family or friend to help as we are on lockdown.
I use my Email for ordering my medication for delivery from my Surgery- order food for delivery. Use my Email for EBay/PayPal/ YouTube etc: as well as receiving and paying bills i.e.: Elec AND BT as well as Asthma UK.
Not bragging but I have a number of gadgets IPhone/ IPad/ tablet/computer - and I have to change each gadget for each Wmail account I use.
Talking to them over the phone gives no help - either do it or lose it. It would mean telling everyone I have ever need to contact to be informed if I change supplier.
You might sense I am annoyed particularly at this Covid19 time. It is bad enough being locked down - but this takes the p..... no doubt to get rid of being an Email provider as there is no money in it for them - all their big fat salaries come from Broadband and there new EE.
I have left a message for them to ring me and talk me through the process. Not expecting much....

We have had bt internet since 1978 and have never been asked to change settings. Make sure you speak to genuine BT staff before you do anything. There are too many scams come through the email.
Just checked, and it seems to be real - it’s for people who have a BTYahoo account, rather than a BTMail account - they’re moving everyone onto BTMail, and they’re doing it a bit at a time because they’re expecting a lot of people to call for help... Hope you get it sorted.
I had a similar thing. My internet provider changed to plusnet. I did nothing. When I went to check my emails after the change over I was redirected to plus net. Once I got there, I addled it to my favourites. My email address and password remained the same.
Thanks for your experience Troilus - in normal circumstances I could rely on a friend or family to pop round and help - but at 83 I am on lockdown and can't receive visitors.
They have picked a bad time to make changes particularly as I use the Email addresses I have had for many years and I rely on them to keep in touch with the Surgery for medication deliveries and appointments- as well as ordering food using EBay Facebook YouTube Netflix receiving/paying bills etc: including BT.... !?!?
Thanks again - keeping fingers crossed they will ring back and help me sort things....keep safe.
In my experience dealing with BT is easier on their online chat As sometimes I struggle to understand different accents.. I had the same email. I think what they’re doing is possibly getting rid of an old server which means moving some long term customers to another one to ensure continuity of service. I’m sure you will be able to resolve it without losing your email address
