This is on my medical history, on the nhs app I was texted about advising I download. Will this be enough to show my employer to justify shielding?

No idea to be honest had the texts and the letter and my employer has basically said claim for universal credit. Not giving ssp as not sick. So effectively being forced back into work. I think each employer is just doing what they want

Yikes! I'm sorry about that. Seems there are way to many varying opinions from employers. What on earth are people supposed to do

Are you a member of a union? Strictly your employer is responsible for providing you with sick pay as laid out in the emergency budget. As an employer they would have received notification from the government detailing the budget. I guess they haven't read it.

It does not feel like they haven't read it. It feels more like ignoring it as have made repeated phone calls to the finance manager always out or in meetings dodging me is how I feel about it. I work in social care and we have lost 20 percent of staff with underlying health problems ie the letter group. So feel as they just want us back with no masks to make there balance sheet look better

Write to the finance manager, keeping a copy. State that "The emergency budget laid out clear steps for employers to pay SSP to employees who have to self isolate and I look forward to receiving my SSP without further delay. If you don't believe that the budget provisions apply in this instance please state the reasons to me in writing so I can take the matter up with the DWP. You can find full details of the emergency budget at gov.uk/government/publicati...

This should do the trick as they have to take action by either paying it or explaining why they think they are exempt when there aren't any exemptions.

I'm not surprised at employers trying it on, I've heard it all. The care industry can be the worst (in my experience).

Good luck!
