Covid 19 and isolation

Several people have asked this and my question is this who is going to contact the people most at risk on the 23rd March and how? I’m so disappointed with Asthma UK at the moment. I’m due to have my mepo injection on Tuesday and just praying I don’t get ill before then so I can still have it x

NHS via post it looks like. There may also be phone calls from our GP practices as a follow up, but I suspect we’ll all get letters initially (as it’s easier to hit everyone at once that way... otherwise the last on the list is potentially in the most danger)

I spoke my hosp the other day regarding MABs (well they called me about something else 😅) and they told me the biological clinics are the main clinic they are fighting to keep open so hopefully that will go ahead as usual, tho maybe with a different protocol... I know there’s people having them out in their cars are being sent away again etc, and there will probs be a big drive to have us self injecting ASAP

Hope this helps and call your team when you can to double check their procedures

I have what I believe to be a cold and have been struggling. I only got a formal diagnosis from the respiratory consultant last week. Due to my GP assuming no wheeze = no asthma the consultant said it has been poorly managed for the last 12-18 months. I contacted the AN twice last week and yesterday a different GP issued me with a rescue pack of antibiotics and steroids, and has increased my Fostair 200/6 to 2 puffs four times a day to see if that helps.

I think once I am well controlled there won’t be an issue but at the moment I am feeling afraid. How will this be picked up by the NHS as I could need to start the steroids any day.

I’m glad you’ve finally been diagnosed. I hope you get your control soon and I’m glad you seem to have a good team behind you now. I hope you get control soon

Thank you. It has been an anxious time, as I used to do loads of swimming and running so my lung function was technically OK. With the higher Fostair dose there was over a 140% improvement in my spirometry results!

I hope people in the “severe” category will be offered extra support eg a different no to phone other than waiting hours for 111 to call back. Otherwise there’s not much point.
