Hi, Have just received letter from hospital confirming aspergillus & because of high IgE levels still can't try Omailzumab, Voriconazole has now been recommended + steroids to try & combat the mold allergy. I have read about this drug & the side effects terrify me, most of which I currently have anyway. Has anyone tried this drug, I would appreciate any comments.

I haven't tried this drug and had to look it up. You say you have aspergillus as an allergy rather than an infection. From what I just read (Mayo Clinic) only infections are treated with an anti fungal medication. It suggests that if it's only an allergy to this particular mold then anti fungal meds aren't effective.
They do recommend steroids.
I thought about posting anything as this is not in my experience but no one else has replied. Maybe double check with your consultant whether or not you have the fungal infection and why they think this medication will be effective - tell them you're worried about taking it. And definitely ask for close monitoring if you do take it as you want to feel supported.
All the best.
Sounds hard, I'm sorry to hear this. One quick thought is that if you're on prednisone long term keep an eye on your cortisol levels and make sure to taper slowly. Take good care, keep us posted.
I’m a bit confused......I thought Omailzumab was for people who have a high IgE - to lessen the allergic reaction. Have I got that wrong?
hi Lhasa3
i would advice you to go and see the GP asap and try and get it sorted out stay calm and try not to panic it might make your symptoms worse try breathing techniques and listen to meditation music and sit in a comfortable place to relax if u need more advice iam always here to help
