Germ Season!

Hi all,

As much as I love this time of year (fresh, crisp days, cosy evenings and comfy knits), I also hate it equally because everywhere I go, someone is coughing, spluttering or sneezing and it’s so hard to avoid! My colleague at work had a nasty cold this week and despite her being as careful as possible, I still caught it.

Does anyone else dread it when you get struck down with the lurgy and you feel like you’re on edge, waiting for it to go to your chest and play havoc? I’ve been laying here all night thinking will this one just stay as a head cold or will it be the one that sends me in hospital? 🙈 I’m also kicking myself because I haven’t had my flu jab yet!

Don’t you just love germ season?! 🦠 🤧

Crisp park walks are so lovely! It’s so hard to avoid germs when people are so forthcoming with sharing them 🙈 I’m trying my best not to pass mine onto anyone else and have used that much hand sanitiser that my skin feels like rubber, haha. 10/10 for trying

I hope your cold doesn't affect your chest. I had one last winter that then went on to be a chest infection that then went on to take months to get breathing problems back to a manageable level.

A couple of weeks ago I kept diverting away from a fellow shopper in the supermarket who was smothered with a cold. This week I kept diverting from women wearing copious amounts of (albeit very nice) perfume. Life used to be easier to deal with.

Best wishes.

Thank you. I’m hoping it doesn’t too- day 2 and so far so good with a clear chest but I must admit I’ve had some chest twinges that I’m hoping come to nothing.

I’ve heard some horror stories of what a winter cold does to some people’s asthma so I’m being extremely cautious. My people think I’m nuts, I just think it’s good to be careful

Never mind what your people think - be careful, be as safe as you can be xx

I’ve been really lucky and haven’t experienced a cold for 2 winters. I’m hoping that my cold free run continues as I’m not sure how a cold would effect my asthma now it has deteriorated. I’m being super careful but there’s only so much you can do.

Fingers crossed for you this winter! A clear 2 year run is good! 🙏🏽

Yes, I’m constantly on edge during the winter because colds and viruses affect my asthma so much, as does the cold weather. Despite this I actually love winter, I enjoy the contrast of the seasons and being cosy indoors on a cold winter’s day.

Incredibly I have only had one virus and cold since the beginning the beginning of school term (I work with primary age children). Neither one has affected my asthma. I have decided to just be wise and keep myself as well as possible by

Taking my peak flow am/pm

Taking all my medication (shake me I will rattle)

Washing my hands properly

Lastly trusting my God to protect me and care for me.
