I am on a two month trial of ompreloze 40mg twice a day. This is week 6. While my symptoms of sickness of have gone, I still have a sore throat off and on during the day but the salty taste in my mouth has decreased.
So I think it's been a success. There is only one thing I have got constipated. So I bought lactose solution from the pharmacy which is helping a bit. I have a good healthy diet and drink plenty of water. Anyone else got any more solutions?

It’s really good to know it’s working for you. Everything seems to have side effects of one kind or another though 😞
Tropicana do a whole fruit juice which supposedly contains 50% more fibre than other juice. Otherwise prune juice if you like it? Hoping things continue to improve for you 😊
I'm sorry to know that. Can you eat soups? Green soup with cabbage, Brussels sprouts, spinach etc would be fairly high in fibre. And maybe this is just something I've convinced myself is true but, chocolate! Good quality dark chocolate works too. I hope you'll find something that helps.
Thanks for the further suggestions. I am sorry for not mentioning my long list of forbidden foods. Nonething acidic, no process foods ie sausages, no caffeine (chocolate is out), no yogurts but can eat veg til it comes out of my ears. I can eat dates and certain kinds of nuts(high in fibre I think)
Maybe I could try soup it would have to be homemade without tomatoes.
I'm sorry that you have developed this side effect. Lactulose can be very good. It is one of the more gentle formulations on the market. I'm not sure what dose you are on, but maybe that could be increased? There are stronger alternatives available which, although can be bought over the counter, if you haven't used them before, maybe try them under the supervision of your GP?
There are products called Movicol, Cosmo-col, laxido, etc. They are all powder dissolvable in water. Like lactulose, they rely on having adequate water intake to make sure they work correctly. It is important to drink plenty of water each day. If possible, you could try gentle exercise too.
Thankyou for your advice. I started using it about 10 days ago. I bought on advice I got from a pharmacy. I started at 15ml once a day. Now move to 15ml twice a day. I am trying to drink plenty of fluids.
I have an appointment in 10 days time to review the medication.
Had my appointment to review my ompreloze trial of two months at 40mg twice a day. GP deem it a great success.
Still have sore throat but not sure it's due to either a remance of a cold last week or oral thrush. So I waiting to see if it resolves itself.
So plan going forward is to reduce to 20mg twice a day instead of 40mg twice a day. I started doing this two days ago for a month then maybe down to 20mg once a day ("If feeling brave" doctors words)
The GP said I have complete freedom to increase back up if acid reflux comes back. I was reassured that being on ompreloze long term even at 40mg twice a day is safe. I had a concern about my bone density could be effected by this drug. Doctor didn't think it was a problem. Advise instead vitamin D tablets which I am quite wiling to do.
Still sticking to acid reflux diet but have fallen off the wagon a few times. Fatty foods ie. Chipshop chips ☹️ and fatty meat (lamb) really bad indigestion which no glavison will touch.
So adding another repeat prescription to my list and as my mum says if you shoke me I'll rattle!?
How disappointing that the lower doses don’t work. Are things starting to improve again now that you’ve increased the dose back up to 40mg? I hope things start to get better again soon 🤞
After increasing my dose of ompreloze back up to 40mg twice a day my symptoms settled down.
I then went back to the doctors (two weeks ago) for
a review of my medication. I told the doctors about what happened when I reduced the dose. His advice was to stay at 40mg then try and reduce again to 20mg am and 40mg in two weeks time.
Times up on Monday so I am hoping that my body will tolerate a reduction of my dose.
The sore throat turned out to be laryngitis and is alot better.
I'm glad your sore throat is better and was unrelated to the reduction of ompreloze. That's one less thing to worry about I suppose. I hope your next reduction of the dose goes better this time 🤞
