phyllocontin side effects anyone??

Hi! I've been taking phyllocontin for just over a week now. I don't know if it's coincidence, but I've had horrid heart palpitations for a few days. Feels like my heart is vibrating! I got woken up last night with awful stabbing pain in Im guessing my heart. Went back to sleep shortly after. I know it isn't anything sinister. I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar effect? Many thanks

I too take phyllocontin - have used it for about 12 months now.

I think it’s been quite helpful for my asthma but I wouldn’t say it’s my no 1 drug!

I can’t say as I’ve noticed any heart problems at all but it does make me feel quite nauseous at times - especially in the beginning.

I find that I have to stick very rigidly to taking the tablets every 12 hrs on the dot, otherwise I feel sick.

Just to say - make sure that your doc monitors your blood levels regularly - especially in the beginning because I had a lot of problems maintaining the correct therapeutic levels and I don’t think that Gps are very mindful of this problem. You should increase/decrease your dose accordingly. Maybe this is what is causing your side effects? Might be worth getting it checked if they haven’t already done so.

Hi, heart palpitations can be a side effect and you need to tell the GP or consultant who prescribed it. I don't have any heart problems but I was taken off of it quite quickly as a result of this and can no longer take it in any version.

Thanks for the replies. I managed to get an out of hour gp appointment last night. I was worried about taking it. She agreed it could be a side effect. So i have to stop for 2 days then try again! So fed up with medication!
