I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not getting the best of my 100/6 Fostair as it "runs" out. Its down to 36 puffs left and beginning to suffer a little. For quite a few months I've suspected that I'm not getting the full dose as the numbers go down. Has anyone else jad this experienced this?

I was just about to post the same question about my Fostair 200/6 inhaler!

I've been on Fostair for a year now, but it's only been the last few inhalers that have had this problem (I get through 2 a month, so only in the past 6 weeks or so). I noticed it again this morning when my inhaler got below 40 puffs. It's as if it sort of gets semi-blocked or something, so that when you push it down it seems really stiff like it won't go and the medicine comes out much slower than normal. I also am wondering if I'm getting the full dose when this happens.

Ah my problem is not the mechanism but it is as if the drug is not as strong ie it's getting weaker. Only once have I thought I hadn't depressed it enough.

Try twisting the cylinder round find it works better think sometimes it gets blocked .

You can also take it out of the outer casing and rinse the nozzle under warm water if you think it might be blocked. Then push down to check the nozzle is clear and useas normal.

Thankyou didnt know you could do that .

I am on the pump with an areo chamber and I never had a problem with it.

I’m not sure if this is related but when I was on Fostair Nexthaler, I found that every other puff misfired and I wouldn’t get a dose

I read somewhere, maybe on the leaflet from one or other inhaler, that once the counter gets to 20 you need to stop taking it as you may not be getting the full dose, which makes me wonder why the counter doesn't start at 100 instead of 120 and finish at 0, that way everyone would know it's time to throw it away. I no longer have Fostair, I have seretide now and I felt that once it gets into the 30s it's not working so well. But I thought I must be imagining it so have been persisting until the counter gets to 20. But maybe it really isn't working so well once it's down to 30-something.

Hi. I have seen others say the same. I am on fostair and although I'm not sure if it's doses left related (I will start to check now) i don't find it last the full 12 hours. I'm having to have more mid day. I spoke to one of the asthma uk nurses recently about this and she said they hear this all the time.

I'll mention it to my nurse at my next review. In the mean time I'm going to ditch the inhaler and startt the new one early. Hooefully I'll se a difference. Wish me luck.

I had a couple consecutively that just packed up around the 50 mark, but I just put this down to a bad batch.

I tried the new one today and I'm feeling much better. I will try to monitor it closely this month.

Good morning,

I did not feel 100% this morning. And when I took my Fostair 200/6 it did not sound right. I immediately fired one shot into the air to test it. Nothing came out. Luckily I kept one of the old cases without a counter, I swapped the metal canister over to the old plastic case. BINGO! now it worked again. We are not supposed to clean the new cases with water, and we are not supposed to test them.

I may have been getting a reduced dose for days.

Bye the way I think Fostair is brilliant (when it works).

Hi. Found this forum when googling the same issue. I started fostair a few months ago and I am on my third inhaler. The first one stopped working when it got down to the 30 mark, the second one was fine but now this one has stopped working at the 50 mark.

I’m not sure if people know about the yellow card scheme but it’s well worth reporting issues like this via the yellow card scheme website or via your pharmacy as this will help identify if there is a design fault. In my case, they gave me an envelope to send it to the manufacturer for testing.

Hope this helps someone. It’s well worth reporting things like this as this could literally mean someone’s life or death.

Very grateful for my fostaire inhalers as they really helped except 4 of my last 6 have run out early with about 30, 40. 60 and just now 80 plus puffs left!
