hello everyone
i had a spirometry test yesterday and i blew 110% is this good..what does this mean? i had to be atleast 80%
Spirometry normal produces several figures, which help the consultant understand what is wrong. However, most of these figures are quoted against a baseline of 100%, which is the average for a group of people of your height, age, etc. The normal range is between 80-120%, so 110% on any one of these tests is a good result, but shouldn't be taken in isolation.
It means they cannot give you a definitive result. I do not trust those results. The difference between my tests before and after having salbutamol was hardly any difference which would show i am not asthmatic when i clearly am and suffer badly from it all the time. The reason is because my peakflow is way higher than the average person. They have no idea what causes my asthma.
why would they give these tests then? all i used was my brown inhaler
The idea of the test is to see how much air you can breathe out firstly then take 5 lots of salbutamol through a large spacer and then do the test again. If the amount of air you breathe out goes up, then you have asthma apparently.
i didn’t get told to take it?
well they did not do the test correctly which i don't understand. The brown inhaler is a long term preventer, not a reliever. How can you have Spirometry test without salbutamol???
i dont no? i dont no what to do
I would talk to the doctors and ask about the test you done. Do you have a peakflow device and measure it regularly? Are you sure it was a Spirometry test. They normally take about 45 mins. with two testing session. One before taking salbutamol and one after.
yeah i have a peak flow test
Did they do that at the test? Do you know what your high is?
my highest ive done is 440 my average is 425 for my heigh/age/weight
Okay have they actually said that you have asthma?
i got told i had ot when i was small im now 22 years old and i have never really suffered with it
im getting a chest xray done aswell
Sounds like you either don't have it or its very mild. Nothing to worry about.
that’s all im doing though is worrying ☹️
What's worrying if you dont get asthma.
