Spirometry normal produces several figures, which help the consultant understand what is wrong. However, most of these figures are quoted against a baseline of 100%, which is the average for a group of people of your height, age, etc. The normal range is between 80-120%, so 110% on any one of these tests is a good result, but shouldn't be taken in isolation.

what does that mean sorry?

It means that no-one can give you a definitive answer to your question without the other results!

what results of the test i had?

It means they cannot give you a definitive result. I do not trust those results. The difference between my tests before and after having salbutamol was hardly any difference which would show i am not asthmatic when i clearly am and suffer badly from it all the time. The reason is because my peakflow is way higher than the average person. They have no idea what causes my asthma.

why would they give these tests then? all i used was my brown inhaler

The idea of the test is to see how much air you can breathe out firstly then take 5 lots of salbutamol through a large spacer and then do the test again. If the amount of air you breathe out goes up, then you have asthma apparently.

i didn’t get told to take it?

well they did not do the test correctly which i don't understand. The brown inhaler is a long term preventer, not a reliever. How can you have Spirometry test without salbutamol???

i dont no? i dont no what to do

I would talk to the doctors and ask about the test you done. Do you have a peakflow device and measure it regularly? Are you sure it was a Spirometry test. They normally take about 45 mins. with two testing session. One before taking salbutamol and one after.

What's worrying if you dont get asthma.

Shannon97 in reply toThompson_2009

Thompson_2009 in reply toShannon97

Okay you need to be more specific. Do you cough or wheeze get out of breath easy. These are asthma symptoms. If not then it's probably something else. If you get these symptoms then you need a blue inhaler and a spacer.
