Asthma during pregnancy

Hi all, I am pregnant with my second child (just entering my third trimester). I have had more cough colds viruses and flu (despite having the vaccine) than I have ever had before in short period. It’s been constant for 6 months and each time my asthma gets worse and I can’t sleep due to wheezing and coughing. I have also experienced a lot of work stress which I think is playing into the asthma and also how often I am getting ill, that and picking up everything my daughter brings home from nursery. I am doing my best to look after myself, take it easy and not do too much, I have looked at my diet too although I do have a pretty good diet. I am just so desperate to get off this carrousel of illness before the baby arrives. Any advice or tips very welcome. I also developed acid reflux post my first child so am curious to know how that might also play into things.

Sorry to hear you are unwell. I too was poorly through most of my pregnancy (22 years ago) and had to have antibiotics and steroids! But baby arrived safely. I was a wreck but he was ok!

Hope things improve and all the best for your family.

Might be worth taking Vit C to strengthen your immune system. I took a lot of Gaviscon for the acid reflux. xx

Hi, my asthma was pretty rubbish throughout my pregnancy. At the end, it was hard to tell when I was short of breath due to asthma and which was baby pushing up! I also had more than normal colds! They decided to induce me at 36 + 4 and almost immediately, my asthma improved!! My baby is now 6 weeks and my asthma feels under control again. It does get better!!
