The joy (sorry I know it’s serious) but went to drs yesterday as my chest was flaring! They did the usual and listened to my chest. They asked what symptoms I was having, said a cough, tight chest
He was like oh yes you are rather wheezey and tight chest aren’t you! I had a wheeze on/off but didn’t mention it as they don’t always hear anything. I was a bit like hooray this isn’t all in my head or in my vocal chords like they are trying to make out!
Just now to get through 20 days on steroids, as on a longer tapper course to see if that makes longer difference.

i have been getting this for a while - my voice goes down a couple of octaves when im tight chested . i had a tight chest then got a right proper cough and then now im back to tight chest - i have had 3 courses of steroids and an antibiotic in between but once i stop the steroids about 3/4 days later i get the tightness back and the voice starts going again . why is this ? i don't like the thought of taking so many steroids either but i can't figure out why this is happening and its really getting me down . i also get pain in my chest ( mostly in the morning) but it comes and goes during the day too .. is that normal ? i feel like im being a torture going to the docs because i know I've been worse but its just so irritating feeling like this all the time now . is this a new thing for you too?
Sorry I probably wrote it in a rush! I don’t have any symptoms that I notice with my vocal cords.
However all my asthma test results have been coming back but still having asthma symptoms and I respond to asthma treatment.
But because of the negative asthma test results I’ keep on being fobbed off. So they want to relook at my vocal cords to check for vocal cord disfunction(vcd). VCD can often mimic asthma symptoms.
That’s why I was quite relieved when the dr said yesterday you are wheezy & tigh chested - which I wouldn’t have if it is was VCD!
Are you under a hospital consultant? Or do the steroids help at all? It might be worth having a chat with your dr and trying to fight for answers.
