Embarrassing tremor

Is there anything that can be done to help with the side effects of LABAs? For a few hours after taking my preventer I have a very noticeable tremor which is getting embarrassing and difficult to hide. I had a job interview the other day and missed my dose just to avoid the shakes.

Stepping down isn't an option at the moment as I have symptoms most days.

It happens with just about every preventer I've had and doesn't get better the longer I take it for.

Hey

Have you tried taking it through a space? Alternatively using the DPI version? That can sometimes help avoid the issues so worth a try if you haven’t already.

Alternatively talk to your GP/auk and see if they have anything that can help with the side effects as you don’t want to not take your inhaler.

Hope you find a solution x

Yes I use a spacer. Not sure if flutiform is available as DPI. I did try something in the past that was a DPI and it made my chest tight every time I took it 😬 but that could've just been that particular one, I'm willing to try anything though so I'll investigate 😊

I am mostly taking it as I should, just the odd time where I could really do without the shakes. But i know it isn't ideal. I'll give the helpline a call, see what they say, thank you 😊

I would like advice too on this side effect. I used Fostair nexthaler 200/6 twice a day. In the last two weeks I started to have the same problem too. Like butterfly I don't want to reduce my inhaler either. This is because I have post nasal drip (caused by polytic) and acid reflux both could potentially irrate my asthma.

I try just to ignore it in the morning and it wears off approximately ,4-6 hours after taking it.

I him to ring the helpline today for advice.

Hi all talked to asthma UK helpline this afternoon and the lady who I talked to was very helpful.

She said that it was unusual to get side effects after taking my inhaler now after being on it for over a year.

What she said maybe possible was to reduce strength of the steroid part of my inhaler. Reduce down from two puffs to one puffs twice a day and add in Qvar 100. That way I would still get the long acting part but reduce the steroid effects.

I have an appointment with one of my doctors on Monday to talk about my poltyic and nasal drip. I going to use my appointment to ask further questions about the problem I am having.

Will update here when I've been to that appointment.

I know the feeling. I don't really know what to do either. I think I've been a bit better since being put on Bisoprolo for tachycardia. I don't shake as much so I think the shakes were due to a high pulse, but I still have a high pulse compared to normal people. It's just a bit better than it was. You could try tracking your pulse to see if it's related. That's the only thing I can think of.

I have the opposite, mine is mostly 50-60 bpm at rest.

I know I got a tremor when I had hyperthyroidism and my resting pulse was around 120bpm, but fortunately this has since been treat.

Hi Butterfly have you had a chance to ring asthma UK helpline yet?

I admit I haven't yet, been rushed off my feet. I'll try your inhaler before breakfast and see if it helps!

I found it helped to leave an hour or 90 mins between each of my two puffs in the morning. And, likewise, leaving a similar interval between each of my two evening puffs.

Hi I stumbled across the answer for me this morning. I took my inhaler before breakfast then did my usual rinse and garbled. Then brush my teeth and had breakfast. No shaking at all!

I usually do my inhaler 30mins after breakfast.

I not sure why this has worked but it has?!
