I use a salt pipe occassionally and they do seem to help a little with settling down inflammation, but I don't find they are any use when I am having an asthma attack.

I have a lot of allergies and rhinitis and reflux. Plus I am on Fostair (pink) ventolin and antihistamine as needed (seasonal allergies plus food ones). Maybe it depends on how severe your asthma is and what causes it? Plus what you are already taking? I also use a nasal wash when the rhinitis is bad as it easily develops into sinusitis. The salt pipe isn't a cure but it does sometimes seem to lessen irritation.

If you put salt pipes in the search box you will find replies from other people to previous discussions on this.

I was prescribed Fostair after my asthma worsened about 18 months ago (previously on Clenil and then tried another inhaler which gave me too many side effects). I find it has made a big difference to the asthma and my peak flow is now up to a norm of 380 (which is good for me).

I do find I get hand tremors. I call it the sugar shakes as I notice it when sprinkling sugar and have developed a technique by turning the bowl around rather than sprinkling!! Other than that as long as I rinse my mouth well and the back of my throat after using it I find it is effective.

I use one for about half an hour at a time. They seem to help m, because if I don't use it for a few days, I can tell the difference. But I also have Bronchiectasis. I also use Fostair and antibiotics 3 days a week year round.
