Can anyone advise me what to expect on a home assessment , how do they differ from a assessment centre ?
Thank you
I had an assessment at the centre as they were not going to be able to see me,at home for weeks and I had already waited months. The young lady asked me if I could raise my arms and stand up. Apart from some questions and medical evidence that was it. I got a letter the other day stating I had got the mobility component but nothing else. I am going to as for this to be reviewed. I would imagine a home assessment will look in more detail at what you are able to do. I wish i had waited now. Really emphasise what your worst days are like. Hope this helps. Good luck xx
My mum recently was involved in a review which I guess is like the assessment. They asked her questions which involved her memory( which has nothing to do with her asthma and mobility). They discussed what she was able to do around the house, did she have help to cook, clean get dressed etc. The hardest to judge was how far can you walk. My mum was retired through ill health at 48 she is now 65. She did not receive PIP and we ended up having to go to appeal. Which was so stressful for mum. The system is really unfair. My biggest bit of advice. Is always answer questions based on your worse days.
My mum has altered lots of things In her life to live with chronic asthma, those things have become normal to us as a family and you can forget that they are not.
I had my assessment last week , my closest friend was with me ...the nurse who came asked the same old generic questions however never really asked about my severe brittle asthma, however she did have lots of medical evidence ...who knows how it went , just depresses me that my health has taken over my life at 48....
Thank you for your reply and i hope yourmum is well
