I was going to write a blog on one topic but with all the flu jab stuff today thought I’d write one on the flu jab instead! I’d welcome your feedback.

So,for the first time ever I had the flu jag last night and I don't feel like I've even had a jab,no symptoms whatsoever and my iron levels are low &when I get bloods done my muscles are agony for weeks even afterwards. Have you had it before?my arm isn't even sore .
Had mine 3 weeks ago and was warned I might feel feverish. All done in 10 seconds and had a sore arm for two days. Glad to have it after seeing how poorly my hubby was in January.
I got mine, but think I got it at the wrong time as I was on 20 pred (double maintenance dose), 2 weeks out of hospital and was ‘actively wheezing’ which apparently should have made them stop. To be fair they injected me before asking if I was well, or what drugs I was on 😅🤷♀️
3 days later I was in hospital with query infection - first bloods showed infection, 2nd set 24hrs later didn’t so who know what was going on 😂
I remember getting ill after last years jab too, when I was unstable too...
Next year I’m refusing until asymptomatic however with Sept-March being my worse time of year who knows when that will be! 🙈😅
Our surgery offer it late this year, not until later part of November. I wonder why? Too late I think. So I am using the pharmacy one instead. As I was on oral steroids I went in to ask when to do it, and told a week after finishing the tablets. The lovely pharmacist said she would put aside one dose for me.......hope she remembered!
I had been ringing my doctors every week regarding flu jab, kept getting told ring next week, so I booked the flu jab at boots, no waiting, very efficient. My arm doesn't hurt, feeling a little out of sorts, but i feel like that on and off most the time. Glad I've had it done now, I was worried it was getting too late x
I won't get it, my reasons being, every time I've had one, I've been really ill for up to 2 weeks. Last flu Jab I had was the swine flu one. Then I was diagnosed with swine flu, was off work 3 weeks and had to take anti viral tabs. So, some people do get very nasty side effects.

It has no active virus in it the illness you experience is your immune system getting ready to fight when an active virus hits. It will last a day or so not like the flu which can land you in hospital. You have to have an immune response to be covered it’s nothing compare to flu
Interesting isn’t it???
I had the first flu jab back in the '80's. My joints swelled up, i was off work for weeks, the pain and swelling subsided gradually over 2 year period. I had it again and every time my joints swelled and were very painful. My GP at the time said he thought I had reactive arthritis. (oh great that and asthma). Saw a consultant but no markers in bloods so no definite diagnosis. However when I have a viral infection my joints swell and are painful. Not had the jab for years now and don't intend to. I do my best to look after myself over the winter and try to stay clear of too many outings to pubs etc in flu season to be clear of infection. I would never have had the jab if I had known about the possible risks. Pity there isn't a test to see if you are ok with the jab.
Hi Anniecath
That sounds rubbish - you poor love. This is a response from a medic on Twitter:-

I wonder how that stacks up against what you experienced??

Yes, we are all different , aren’t we. I have had the flu jab for the last two or three years, and I get a little sore in one arm, no more. Having had the flu three times in my life, I certainly don’t want that.
When I was young I had a paratyphus(typhoid?) vaccination, and I remember the doctor saying that if I didn’t get a bit ill it hadn’t worked. We had to have one injection every week for three weeks. I am glad to say it is no longer like that.
I know we are in different parts of the world and our seasons are opposite, but we are in spring here and I’ve just had my second flu jab for the year. My respiratory spec suggested it. The vaccine only lasts approximately 4 months so I now get one before winter and one before summer. Last year we traveled to the uk for Christmas and I ended up getting the “Aussie Flu”. So many people were sick with it. After a wedding In Ireland, travelling back home to Australia through Singapore I brought it back with me from the cold to our hot summer. Out of the party I was traveling with of 30, approx 25 came down with a version of it. 10mths later I am still paying the price of not being vaccinated for the flu. Unfortunately I will now be vaccinated for free because I now have chronic asthma due to the damage the infection left with me. Pneumonia, pluracy & now asthma.....
If your fit and well I recommend getting your flu shot.
Trying to take positives out of the negatives....
