Newbie. Feel like I should know more

Hi everyone.

I have always had slight issues with breathing but nothing was spotted until I was in my late thirties.

My asthma is the result of an enzyme deficiency, by the look of it, and I’ve been using inhalers for about 3 years.

I always feel like I could breathe a little easier. Is this normal? Or should I expect to feel perfectly fine sometimes?

Sorry.

Amanda

What kind of enzyme deficiency was it by the way? I wonder the same thing. I was just diagnosed too and I’m 40. I also wondered if I would eventually feel normal or if not breathing completely was the new normal. Hope someone can chime in and sorry I’m not much help!

Hi Thanks for the reply. I can't ever remember 'normal' to be honest but at the moment I'm all allergies and tight chest.

I admit to not using my inhaler 100% as I should and I have been making sure I have been lately - and will continue to.

My father had Alpha 1 Anti-Trypsin Deficiency and so now my sister and I have it. Her kids do too.... We didn't know until recently as the original tests we had done when he was diagnosed were the wrong tests and we were wrongly told we were clear!

Oh well...

I'm currently sat at the computer feeling like something is sitting on my chest. Is this normal?

Thanks again for responding.

I get that feeling of tight ches too, was on brown inhaler but wasn’t really helping and the blue one made no difference either. My peak flow was ok all the time which made me feel like a fraud! I’m now on Fostair Nexthaler and haven’t had that tight chest/ lack of energy/ depressed feeling since. It may be worth a review.
