Stabbing pain in upper back and asthma?

I’ve recently been diagnosed with asthma. I don’t often get breathless all that much however I do get a chest pain and asthma cough quite a bit. It gets worse in cold weather and exercise but the rest of the time I generally don’t have it. Today I was very tired and falling asleep at the drop of a hat. I was very suddenly awoken by sharp pains in my back that hurt a lot. I didn’t have any breathlessness or wheezing just very sudden sharp pains. I took symbicort and it went away. This is the first time this happened to me so I am freaked out. Was it because of asthma or an overexaggeration on my end?

One thing that (in my experience anyway) that asthma can do is make you sit or lie in funny positions. I think when you can't breathe, your body probably shifts you around instinctively, including when asleep, to try & improve it. To that end, I've had times when I've woken up with odd muscle pains or found myself lying in some really weird way.

I'm not saying that's what it is - & if it happens again I'd definitely speak to a doctor - but it might be something like that,
