I bought one and slept with it on last night. I woke up twice gasping for air.

Did anyones asthma worsen with salt rock lamp?
I use mine during the day in the living room and find it helpful but have never tried it at night in the bedroom
Hi tiffykgee
Sorry to hear you were gasping for air. Our in-house GP has written about salt therapies in general. We get asked on a regular basis about salt therapies and herbal remedies. While some people find it useful, asthma experts agree that there is no current evidence to recommend it.
If you feel your asthma is getting worse, there's some information here: bit.ly/2uUdlxt
Hope that helps.

I got a salt lamp for Christmas. I had a look into it and there is currently no scientific evidence to say that they help alleviate asthma or any thing else. However, it has a nice glow and I like having it on at night before bed. So far, it hasn't effected me. If you are having problems, I would move it. You never know. One article I read said that they tend to be a magnet for dust. If you are allergic to dust, this may be your problem.
I haven't tried a lamp but I have been using a salt inhaler for around a month, I find it really helpful for my allergy triggered asthma.
There have been lots of previous posts on this subject and the jury's still out! I have used a salt inhaler, but it doesn't seem to have any significant effect; others have got better or worse using them, and my consultant is not a big fan. My advice would be to try it and see, but if it definitely makes things worse, then stop it. We're all different, and what works for some doesn't necessarily work for others - it seems to be a case of try it and see.
Yes exactly, last night was the first night I tried out my salt lamp, I too slept with it on and woke up wheezing. Yes it was a beautiful glow but it was also the first night my asthma as triggered like this in around 6 months, I will be getting rid of it today.
