Hi! For the first time in my life I can now feel cold air ‘biting’ my airways. (Unexpected - I grew up pretty far north in Scandinavia, and have often experienced temperatures of 25 below zero. Never comfortable, but not affecting me in this way. It is quite liveable with.) Anyway, I have noted the advice of scarfe round mouth and nose, but there is a problem: my glasses, that I always wear, steam up. Does anyone else have this problem? If so any ideas of how to manage it? A product that stops the steam? Or something? Any suggestions welcomed.
Any ideas?: Hi! For the first time in... - Asthma Community ...
Any ideas?
I've never truly found a solution to this one. If you can do it, the scarf is supposed to warm the air, but I just feel like I'm suffocating & the problem gets worse.
I think you can also try breathing through your nose, which does help but is hard to sustain for any length of time. Otherwise, on a really cold day, I put a scarf on (blue & white striped Huddersfield Town ones generally work best) & sort of lean into it, rather than covering my mouth.
As I say, though, I've never found anything that just works well.
Hood and scarf, thermals, socks, vest, gloves!! I mean a good woolly non scratchy scarf!! ☃️❄️☃️❄️
Thank you,
It is the steamed up glasses I don,t know how to manage. Any ideas? With a scarf round my face all steam hit my glasses and I can’t see a thing!
Me too..there is a trick I used skiing you take a proper soap bar you draw a line in the middle on each side of the lens and you massage it in with a clean cloth. Or you try those sprays from the opticians but I like my old fashioned recipe xx
Thank you! I must try it. I read about it last night. I must find out more about ways of stopping glasses steaming up.
Know we're you are coming from I wear specs and the steaming is a 🎆🎉🎆
Try a Buff, available from Amazon or good outdoor shops. They are made from breathable fabrics & while they don't solve the problem completely they are a big help. I like mine anyway.
It's so annoying! I have heard that shaving foam rubbed in can help, as can spitting into your glasses and rubbing in but I can't say that I have tried either of them to know if they work! I am hopefully having laser eye surgery so I'm hoping to not have the problem much longer (not having it just for this issue though!). I hope you find something that works.
I think I will try to talk to my optician, or someone, about it and get some suggestions from there. Maybe there is some good product. I have also heard of saliva (counter intuitive), soap (ditto), shaving cream (have none) and so on, but I will explore. There is also the buff that someone suggested, and I have had a bit of Amazon look for those.
And, oh, best for your laser surgery!
