Hi, my history is of having chest infections and Bronchitis. This year the doctors have decided that I have Asthma. I accept that I get wheezy when I get a virus but once it eventually goes my chest clears up and I'm not wheezy. Has anyone experience of this too?

Am I, aren't I?
Hi, I was diagnosed with asthma when i'd had two bouts of bronchitis too. If they suspect you have asthma they should give you an inhaer to try, and monitor you to see if you improve. I generally had no obvious symptoms either before i'd first been diagnosed and would just get wheezy when had a bad cold. It could be that you have asthma. If your lung function improves with the inhaler then that's an indication. (Though of course it is possibly that you either have very mild asthma or not at all - the doctor should monitor your breathing and will then be able to tell you.) Hope that helps a bit.
Hi Jane, Thank you for the reply. They gave Me the blue and Brown Inhaler to Begin With but after A Couple Of Weeks It Was Changed From Brown To Pink (fossfair). They Don't Seem To Work, As In There Is No Instant Relief. i Have Another Appointment Soon So I'll Ask More Questions.
I Hope That Your Asthma Is Under Control
Hi Treehugger, You're welcome. If it's not improving much maybe it's to do with your infection rather than asthma - I'm not sure how quickly it should work. Having a wheezy chest infection is horrible I know - very uncomfortable. I hope you feel better soon and I'm sure your doctor will be able to give you a clearer answer when you see them again.
