I have stood on a rusty nail! My foot is very painful and i can not put weight onto it, should i get it looked at? Will i need a shot etc?

yes i would call your gp you will need a tetanus booster shot
Call 111, a tetanus may not be necessary unless the wound is contaminated by soil or manure - best to get some specific advice for your case
