Hello,

Just a quick question, in the not to distant future I will most likely be moving out of my current surgeries area. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to find a new one.

Thank you

NHS choices website lets you search for GP surgeries in your area, with lots of information about the surgery. Might be of help to you?

Find out if the surgery you are thinking of registering with has a specialist asthma/respiratory nurse? Most GP surgeries asthma clinics are run by the practise nurse, but if you can find one with a specialist trained nurse, that may be a good sign in terms of the support they can offer you. Not all surgeries will have one though.

Good luck with the move.

I would think about what matters to you and then approach a few local surgeries and ask if they offer those services. For me it was availability of female doctors, asthma nurses and parking (because I'm lazy! haha).

Not all gp surgeries have asthma nurses so be sure to check with the practice manager. It can say they do on nhs choices website but when you try to book you can discover nhs choices was out of date. Always check with practice manager first.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I've had a look at NHS choices, seems my decision will be restricted to the ones currently accepting new patients. As suggested I'm going to work out what is important and contact some before making a decision
