Prednisalone prescription

Hi all!

My peak flows dropped to 50% after a couple of nights of coughing and I was quite short of breath but with no wheeze. I spoke to my asthma nurse on the phone who Said she would ask another nurse to check me over and prescribe pred. The nurse I saw said that because I wasn't wheezing she thought it was probably just hay fever and prescribed an antihistamine and not pred. She didn't check my sats or pulse. There are now no more appointments at the surgery til Thursday and I don't know what to do. Could it just be hay fever that's made my peak flows drop?
