Hi Jen

I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. It's horrible when you think things should improve and they just get worse.

Stupid question I know, but have you discussed this with your GP? If not, maybe it's time to have a chat.

I can't think of anything helpful, except to be careful where you go and look after yourself.

I hope things get better.

Am seeing my gp tomorrow afternoon.

Jen xx

Do that by all means! And if he doesn't give you satisfactory answer just consider going somewhere for a second opinion! It's outrageous that no one cares medicine that's supposed to help you makes you feel worse. I am very sorry about that.

Why are you taking steroids?

I was in hospital three times in May. I had three heart attacks. I got fed up lazing around in the hospital with no computer to play with so discharged myself.

Why are you asking an asthma sufferer on The Asthma UK forum why they are taking steroids? Seriously?

As for the 'lazing around in hospital' I'm glad you felt well enough to get fed up lazing around.

Jen3' I'm sorry you're having such a rough time, no wonder you're totally fed up by now. Definitely discuss your concerns about dependency on steroids when you visit your doctor and maybe see what else you can try to get your asthma more better controlled. Good luck.

My daughter died in 1991. She never did have asthma. Her GP prescribed steroids of some sort for an illness that had never been diagnosed. With hindsight, I feel that she had been taking a drug for no valid reason. I asked Jen3 the question to learn more about steroids and their use.

First off, my sympathies for your loss.

Regarding steroids: here is a link easily found from Asthma UK about the use of Pednisone in treating asthma exacerbations. I hope that answers some of your questions about steroids and their use.
