i tried to do a post earlier but when i pressed 'post' the screen greyed out and there was a box at the VERY bottom with 'notification' in the title bar - except i couldn't see the actual notification and couldn't move it so i don't know whether it says something like ""this will be sent to a moderator"" or ""you can't post this because....

hmmm weird - that one worked :-s

anyone know why?

moderators got any answers?

Thanks Jinglfairy,

Haven't had any moderator approval messages through. Tricky to say for definite. If you have any screenshots or error message details please email webeditor@asthma.org.uk

Please let us know if you have anymore issues,

TJ

Thanks for replying TJ, i've just tried again and got exactly the same problem - i hope the link thingy works, i did a screenshot.

The screen greys out & locks so that all forum actions are disabled, the only things that work are the main links which take you back to articles on the main site. I'm very confused - why can i not post in 'general' but seem to have no problems with off topic :-s

greyed out locked screen

Hi jinglfairy, we've been looking in to this to try to replicate the issue (as once we've done that, we can work out what we need to do to stop it happening) and we've got a couple of questions that will help us:

Can you confirm if you had any other tabs/windows open on the forum other than the one in the screenshot?

Did you have another other tabs/windows open on any other forums other than the Asthma UK one at the time of the screenshot?

Has this issue only occurred while in the General forum?

Has it occurred in multiple topics or just one?

If anyone else has had similar problems, please let us know as the more information we can gather, the better equipped we will be to sort this out. You can email us directly at webeditor@asthma.org.uk, or leave a comment below.

hi Hugh,

i don't think there were any other asthma uk windows / tabs open

There were no other forums open (i don't think the running bug is a forum, not sure)

I've only tried to post in general with this happening - when i posted this one in 'off topic' it worked fine. I haven't posted very much recently so i can't comment whether it has / would happen anywhere else

thanks for your help with this :-)

yeah, this happens to me also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what sorted it for me - was re-ticking the box to be informed by e-mail of replies.

I don't want to be informed by e-mail, but it seems this may be pre-requisite?

Sorry, i know this is an old post but i've just had exactly the same issue again when trying to start a new topic in the General section - arrghhh

I even tried ticking the box to be informed but it still greyed out and wouldn't let me do anything!!!

Weirdly it seems i can reply to existing topics but not start new ones
