Im sure we have all heard our doctors say some daft things, so thought it migjt be good to share - funny, serious, just plain strange - fire away!!
I was told today that if I want to really get in control then I need to not catch colds. Well yes doctor, of course I go out and pick them up on purpose!!

*After ringing 111 and telling them I had had maybe 40+ puffs of reliever and still really SOB: on call dr rings me back and tells me to come in to OOH, but take 2 puffs of my reliever first and that will sort me out. Err yes, it's that magic last two which will succeed where the first 40 odd didn't... and are there really people who ring without taking any inhaler at all first?! Luckily when I got there it wasn't him and they were really good.

Resp registrar: 'So did your lungs keep you awake last night?'
He was very nice and it was theoretically a reasonable question...but clearly he has never tried to sleep in A&E at 4am with all the lights on and attached to a cardiac monitor. My lungs were at the back of the queue there for 'things keeping me awake'.
I'd just been told by my asthma nurse that I looked like death and she could tell that I was really struggling when my cons walked into the room and said ""you look well, I take it your lungs are behaving?!""
Saw 'the other' cons today. He implied I was only still in cos I was insisting on having hydro. Asked him to switch me back to pred and send me home then. He replied no, I need to be on hydro and he would do his best to get me home for Christmas. Grrrrrr!!!!

And there i thought I was just practicing my darth vader impression... 
I spent a good 10 minutes today explaining to a doctor (a duty doctor so not my usual GP) that I may appear ok but it is heavily supported by salbutamol and is much worse at night. To then be asked if I thought I still had a chest infection because I look tired! How I wanted to say would you not be tired when you are up half the night coughing and SOB?
Sent to A&E by lecturer after having coughing fits and struggling in the middle of lecture. Despite lots of puffs of Sally still very breathless also a bit tachycardiic. Classmate takes me to A&E we attend school in a teaching hospital so we didn't have far to go. We get seen tick away only to be told by the physician "" I don't hear any wheezing, it's not asthma"". I think to myself, no kidding, I have cough variant asthma and hardly ever wheeze. And this is why I avoid A&E.
