Hey not bean on here for a bit my asthma has bean well under control but now pollen has hit me hard last year i ended up on preds for 4 mouths itu 3 times after bad attacks as pollen is my worst trigger for my asthma and i cant avoid it all together so now take Fexofenadine 1 a day as my gp said we don't want to go down the same road as last year i said no i really don't dose over people with asthma get so badly affected by pollen ? i have some over triggers that i avoid cats e100 c louring in food and meds cold air and body spray and polish all ideas advice would be gr8
i am talk so normal peak flow for me is 650 but it is down to 580-600 i record it mite show my gp it as it a down would pattern now !
Sorry to hear you've had a rough time with your asthma after pollen exposure. Hopefully the antihistamine will help, although if your peak flow has dropped and you're symptomatic,maybe its no as good as it could be, maybe you should revisit your gp with a copy of your pf results?
I have just started on an antihistamine after suffering sneezing and imensly itchy roof of mouth! I have to say after 3 days they seem to be helping although sunny days seem to be worst and its been fairly miserable here. I am having asthma trouble too, but I don't think its allergy related, although my gp does!

Sorry you are not good,hayfever season always hits me hard and I step out the house to go on the school run and am totally breathless on way back (10 min journey) eyes itching you name it.anyway have bought opticrom from chemist (has really done a good job with itchy eyes).i now take beconase nasal spray morning and night.excellent very much doing the job.and I also take Benadryl one in the morning and one again 8 hours later.i feel much much better and can now sit in garden without being breathless.i also always put Vaseline around my nose as it keeps pollen out then when I come indoors blow my nose and use more Vaseline.and I drink loads of water to shift anything sitting on chest.good luck

Aww hope u r feeling better I do that wash my eye with water when I get in keep windows closed in morning and night when the levels are high ect got a little advice card from A UK wish is use full

Hope you're feeling better on the tablet and that it keeps you from going down the same route as last year! I'm with butterfly here though, if your pf has gone down, perhaps you should visit your gp to see if there is anything else you can be given? I'd say he'd probably want to see you l, especially if its normally pretty consistent!
Pollen always triggers me off, and because I have had a bad flare up, my gp has put me on montelukast, are you on anything like that? It's meant to be pretty good for allergy triggers and I've noticed a difference.
My asthma has been playing up for a few days though (finished pred last sun tho, so that could also be a factor) due to pollen count.
Hope you keep it at bay!! Really feel for you, it's horrid when you want to be enjoying the sunshine, but when you do it makes you ill!!

Matt I hope the fexofenadine works for you, what dose are you on? It comes in two strengths, 120mg and 180mg. Have they considered monteleukast also? I take the higher dose of fexofenadine and double the normal dose of monteleukast, but last summer was still really terrible, I had six months of oral steroids too, regular nebulisers of 5mg salbutamol and barely left the house. I was still having terrible attacks needing emergency care on the oral steroids.
LOL I just seen Lollie has mentioned monteleukast too Do take it seriously if your PF is going down, as things can deteriorate quickly, so see your GP.
Shame, in one sense its so lovely to have summer come, but you know whats coming with it..

I take 2 tablets of fexofenadine 120mg a day I going to see my gp on Monday mite ask to take monteleukast as well the pollen levels are high today had to use salamol 2 times but ok now just little chesty no need to go see no one now I feel ok ish and my peak flow is down a little bit I had a chat to my gp on phone on Monday she said If it drops below what you have on you plan do what it said if I go below 420 I have to go to a n e ect but if its bad call 999 have done this before bean waned by by gp as I am very talk my peak flow is naturally higher so if it gone below 300 it is a 999 job if it stays that low

Was given a bit of a talking to about how bad it was on Sunday and faffing with 111 rather than 999 - a bit niive about how serious it was I think. He's booked an urgent appt with a consultant - only 5 weeks away and in the meantime I am on a v slow pred taper staying on 40mg and reducing weekly, but not allowed below 10mg before consultant appt. Also been given clear instructions about when to call 999.

hope u are feeling better to I seam a bit better now called my gp now on 3x am symbicort and 3 x pm seams to be a lot better I know when I need to get emergency help from my history of asthma and very bad attack at work last year they tort I was having them on when I said call 999 then I sat down has a very bad attack now everyone knows when I ask for help I needed ended up blacking out that day and was in hospital for two days but now keep eye on peal flow how I feeling ect but as for now by peak flow back to normal ish so see my gp then and review it don't feel that i need pred atm not that bad i am feeling a lot better today think cos it rained n pollen levels down today as well

I hope you can get the montelukast and that it helps you. I'm up most nights now that there's lots of tree pollen, but without the montelukast I'd be worse. x

thanks I have spoken to my gp on more preventer inhalers well more puffs she said we talk more about add on like montelukast when i see her next

Hope you get the montelukast sorted, I certainly feel that it makes quite a difference to me! You shouldn't have to push to hard for it, I had heard about it and was going to ask about it, but GP mentioned it
