thank you all

To the nurse I spoke to on the help line in Dec or Jan (bad memory!) And to each and every one of you who took the time to reply to my posts, thank you all. This mummy finally has a stable and diagnosed asthmatic child!

That may partly sound bizarre, I'm happy my child has been diagnosed? Yes, I am! Up till now any time we have had to visit OOH docs, they have immediately dismissed my daughter after taking her temperature because she's ""not diagnosed as asthmatic"".

After 2 years of yoyo-preventer (upon my doctors advice), I spoke to the help line and the wonderful nurse explained she thought my wee girl needed a higher, steady dose rather than increase to treat symptoms then decrease when symptoms subside (this was a weekly occurrence!). My wee girl has been stable and well since Jan! Such a difference! We actually sleep all night most nights now!

If it wasn't for you all and that nurse, we would still be doing yoyo preventer and have a struggling child. Not to say she hasn't had bouts (attacks?) But they have been less frequent and less severe.

I am so pleased that your daughter's asthma has stabilised, long may it continue that way.

Have a lovely weekend.

Fiona,

I'm truly happy to read your post. It must be such a relief for you all.

Here's to stability!!

X

It is such a relief. The past 2 winters (2011 & 2012), we have had to phone NHS24 and go to OOH every 2 to 3 weeks due to how up & down she was. She's only 4 so it's been a horrible ""journey"" to get to where we are. SHe's a much more healthy wee thing, I guess due to getting decent sleep! If it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't have understood that by increasing the preventer we were regaining control but we thought she was ""better"" and then decreasing was losing control, but we thought she had another cold. It was the nurse on the helpline that spotted this. I'm ever so grateful to her.

It was lovely to read such a positive story.

I hope your daughters asthma control continues x

She's having a blip just now, she has (yet another) a cold. But last night was 2 attacks with 5 to 6 hours of sleep inbetween which is a vast improvement - used to be constant attacks all night for about 3 to 4 nights
