The most embarassing thing happened today, I had a asthma attack in front of my whole class!! :S
Has anyone else had to deal with this? Dreading going in tomorrow

Ugh! i hate public attacks! i was carted off by paramedics in front of a load of people i live with the other week! Its best just to laugh at it. my mates who speak sign language assigned me the same 'sign name' (the symbol used as a kind of nickname in sign language in place of fingerspelling) as the sign for ambulance. I think if YOU laugh at it too then it doesnt matter if people comment on it. What happened? Hope you're feeling better now! I'm sure if your friends were there then they'll help shield you from the questions - but i think most people are just interested and if you answer their questions they tend to satisfy their curiosity and it stops being interesting pretty fast. were your teachers good about it? i think that makes a lot of difference. Dont stress about school, if you build it up in your head then you'll only worry and it wont be as bad as you think!
I got carted out of sainsburys a while ago and saw someone I worked with as the paramedics where wheeling me out.
Next time I saw her I joked that it wasn't quite the trolley dash I was.expecting!!
I do think joking a bit helps.
Hope you're better now
i had one middle of Victoria train station London, in the midst of trying to get a policemans attention to the fact i was having an attack. Luckily my husband was with me as well. I don't know who was more scared the policeman or me as the look of panic and concern on his face. The funny thing was that not what you need by husband was really cool and calm as always, he was trying to sort me and the policeman out!! lol. On the upside my inhaler kicked in not long after and we caught our train home.
Have a chat to a friend and say that you're nervous about going in tomorrow. See if you can meet up in the morning and go in together so yyou've got some moral support.
Yes had to deal with this when I was in school and college with dodgy asthma. Embarassing, especially when you've been carted off in an ambulance, but most people in school and college were quite understanding (in fact they were concerned and caring) and didn't make a fuss of it.
toriPops, better than your knicker elastic going when you`re crossing the road, that happened to my aunt lol
Been there done that.
I lost track of the number of times I got carted off by the paras in school. A couple of bad ones at uni too. Once was trying to get the secretary to talk to 999 on my mobile as I couldnt talk. She was really harrassed and kept telling me she needed her lunch break etc. But then was really apologetuc and concerned when she realised how serious it was (intubated in the van)
Defo go in with a friend tomorrow and like others have said if you can laugh about it with people at oeast they wont just be making you the butt of such jokes. In any case anyone who would actually laugh at you about something like that is really nasty and not worth spending any energy you worrying about it.
Hope youre feeling better now.

how did today go? hope you're feeling better now!
Hi all,
Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and giving me advice!! Today was better than expected, I stayed with my friends and they were all really supportive of me and aware of the situation. We had a laugh and tried to make the best of it
I am still exhausted from my attack but am recovering well, that will teach me to sit out in PE more often instead of ignoring my symptoms
Thanks again everyone,
well done tori, you through it ok
Glad to hear the dy went ok in the end. I hope you continue to recover.
