can we have private messaging back?

Moderator, please can we have private messaging back?

I assume it was removed because the odd person abused it but I have seen quite a few people say that they miss it so could it be tried once again

we don`t have to respond to messages if we don`t want to :)

I would like PM too. Plus anyone else having problems getting onto the page were you accept buddy requests? I have a request outstanding but when I click to accept it just takes me to a page with loads of script type writing.

Jenny - yes, have had this for a while!

I'd also like the PM system back, though my understanding was it was a technical issue with the new forum rather than a 'moderation' one or worries about abuse.

I'd be interested to hear though if any progress has been made on this? There are times when a PM is just a lot more appropriate.

Defo another vote here for the return of pm!

I do miss PM please let us have it back soon

Hi folks!

The PM facility of the new boards was disabled because it is unmoderated (no one but you and people you are sending/receiving messages with can see what is being posted). Because we no longer have a separate message board for under 18s, it would break the CEOP and Charity Commission guidelines if we were to enable private messaging on a board that we allow under 18s to join.

TJ and I have asked if the PM system is going to be modified so that it will allow moderation to take place (like we could with the old boards), but Asthma UK's web team have informed us that they have no plans at present to do this :(

We'll keep you informed if we hear anything else.

The buddy system has been broken since the board was set up, but I've just found out how to disable it, so I've done so in order to prevent all those annoying pop-up messages people have been getting but have been unable to do anything about.

Steve
