prednisolone and mood swings

My son seems to get really terrible mood swings when he is on pred. One minute he is as hyper as can be the next sobbing because I wasnt quick enough with his juice. Terrible twos are bad enough without all this as well!

Pred is horrible stuff

I also get mood swings but at least I can tell my husband that I don't mean it and its just the pred, it must be really hard with a litte one who doesn't understand why they feel the wqy they do :-S

I get pred blues too mainly when im on high doses 1 minute im fine the next ill be in tears & I dont know why untilI start to wean off them. Good luck with your son, the side effects of pred are awful & even worse when he is so young.

I can completely empathise with you on the pred blues!My daughter has now been on it 15months and we have lost track of her true personality!

One minute she is as high as a kite and bombing around the room frantically, the next she has thrown herself on the floor in pure diva style as if the whole world has ended!

Would love to see her Pred free and calm.

Thanks for the replies. It is awful for him. I try to cut him some slack as I know it must be so confusing for him. This time was only a week, last time the15 days were truly awful. It doesnt help that he has side effects from the singulair too, he is totally different since he started on that and nothing in a positive way.

My child has the most incredible foul temper when on the tablets, last time they gave him a dose of 6 per day but they had to reduce it because of the serious impact they were having.
