Stress Asthma.

So, I have had asthma all my life with only one attack as a child. Though since this feb my asthma has been really irratic, I have had 9 attacks between feb and now. Doctors are confused by my symptoms and have no answers and family and friends keep telling me it could be stress asthma because i am in my final year at uni and now really behind on work because of the asthma. What is stress asthma and what can help it if this is what i have? HELP?!

I am assuming that the emotional stresses and strains of final year uni is aggravating your asthma. Have you been to see your disability advisor at your university. They can arrange for funding (Student disability allowance) and adjustments to be made which may help take the strain off you. This might be for example extending assessment deadlines or giving you more time to complete work or deferring modules to a slightly later point in time. They can also provide equipment so you can record lectures. They will also talk to tutors if needed. I used their services while at uni but I had asthma and several other issues so the help I got was fairly comprehensive.

Hey, sorry to hear that your having such a rough time of it atm!

I am in exactly the same boat I am a student nurse in my final year and the stress that has come with it has resulted in numerous admissions and just generally unstable asthma. It was my consultant who said that he thought it could be down to stress! He was fab he told me to speak to uni and if it was necessary he would write a letter explaining the situation....as it turned out once I plucked up the courage to see my personal tutor ( we are a tiny campus so dont have student services) and she was great once they realised that I was genuinely unwell and was trying really hard to catch up...but it was still impossible to keep up they organised extensions and offered me catch up sessions so I didn't miss anything

important :)

The only advice I can give u is go speak to ur uni....try not to panick the uni do actually want you to do well.

I will watch this thread with great interest to see what others suggest...!

Hope u get something sorted and feel free to pm me if u want to!
