Cleft Palate and asthma

Hi. Does anybody know if there is any specific advice to give to a primary school child with a cleft who is struggling to use the MDI and spacer. Further surgical repair is awaited but in the meantime is there anything to make use of the inhaler more effective? Any suggestions greatfully received.
