CAT-354 - novel anti-IL-13 monoclonal antibody

Dear All,

Is anybody aware of any results or outcomes of the clinical trials of CAT-354 which is running in UK. I couldn't find any publications or results. Need it to complete a review on asthma/COPD immunotherapy.

Thank you in advance,

SE

Hi sefundi,

I have read on my news feeds of trials being done with this MAB. There have been mouse studies done that have shown possible efficacy (Inhibition of human interleukin-13-induced respiratory and oesophageal inflammation by anti-human-interleukin-13 antibody (CAT-354). Blanchard C, Mishra A, Saito-Akei H, Monk P, Anderson I, Rothenberg ME. Clin Exp Allergy. 2005 Aug; 35(8):1096-103.)

As far as I know, there has been one Phase I trial in humans that was started about 3 years ago, has been completed and showed a good safety profile. There is another Phase I trial ongoing to further investigate safety, side effects and pharmacokinetics. As far as I am aware, there have not been any Phase II trials yet, so there won't be any data available on efficacy outcomes in humans.

We are mainly doctors and specialist nurses on the Healthcare Professionals part of this board; if there is anyone on here who is a research scientist I am not aware of them. We can't therefore really find out anything more about this MAB than you can yourself by doing a Google or Pubmed search.

You might get more information by contacting Cambridge Antibody Technology directly - their website is at cambridgeantibody.com

Hope this helps

Em H
