I have also been suffering today as well and ended up going to A&E.

I hope you start to feel better soon John

John if you sre unable to speak or can only manage the odd word you need to get someone to call 999 for you NOW not being able to speak is a sign of a life threatening attack. If there is no-one to call 999 for you dial it and they will trace your address.

MOD HAT ON

Please could people not add to this thread, the advice I have given is all that is needed at the moment

John, I hope you get sorted soon

Don't Panic......

Hi Everyone,

Not being able to speak is a normal symptom of MY asthma, and I know a lot of people (including my lovely wife) who put out the flags and celebrate when this happens. If my PF reading was to fall below 200 Litres per minute then, from experience, I would know that it is time to dial 999 and summon an ambulance; and before I get told off again, I do know how serious my asthma is. My asthma specialists have told me that I won't reach retirement age, but I refuse to go without a fight.

My little typing tantrum was an aberration, I'm sorry, and I promise that I won't post anything again.

John

John, glad to read you are ok and being looked after. I am sorry for jumping in with the Mod Hard Hat on, but we had a thread in a similar vein not that long ago that caused a lot of trouble and work and some people got caught in the cross and it was all very upsetting and messy:)

Soft woolly bobble mod hat on. Whilst John is clearly OK when his asthma is bad and he can't speak that is not the case for most asthmatics so stick with the ""no speak, yell for an amulance"" rule

Once again sorry John, in mitigation I did have your and some of our more venerable users at heart.

Hope you recover soon.

John, I hope you will change your mind and come back on the Forum. Interestingly, I saw the 'why me' part of your post which I thought was an interesting discussion point, whereas Bex saw the 'can't breathe/speak' part!

Bex, nice to see you back, I'd like to add one thing, John just as a precaution register your mobile with this site emergencysms.org.uk/

I used it a few weeks back to summon an ambulance as I had an attack that left me unable to speak.

hi

I would like to say i would like to know why me too? I am having a rough ride. Talking gets me breathless frequently, no panic needed my medical team are aware and are treating it, it is caused by my asthma being out of control, so for the more sensitive people do not worry. I do not talk about it much esp not on forum for the exact reason bex jumped in, it causes panic. i hope john you come back i understand you and often ask myself why me? john remeber everyone makes mistakes and it ok. you did not know it would cause panic you were just venting annoyance.

plumie

hey john come back!! i often find myself screaming why me, mostly in silence in my head but more frequently when driving in my car!! hopefully not too many other road users notice. I frequently find myself unable to gabble at my usual speed when under the weather, sadly most people think i have the hump and fail to notice that i am conserving my breath for simply breathing. hope you feeling better.xx

Hi John,

I also find it difficult to speak when having an asthma flare up, in fact yesterday was one of those days and that it why ended up at A&E.

I know how you must be feeling we all have to vent our frustrations from time to time.

Please come back to the Forum and I hope you start to feel better soon.

Jon hope u feel better soon
