I have been invited to meeting to discuss the oxygen services next month (lucky me). I shall be taking my sidekick andrea (wheezyab) with me for support =-P. We will be discussing how far they have come in 12mths since the big change over, how much still needs to be done, why things went so drastically wrong during the change over period and why this cost a couple of people their lives. They want comments and opinions from their patients and I'm lucky (or not) to be one of them. I have a few questions and comments of my own, some of which I've fired at a nurse specialist rep this afternoon much to his surprise. That was after he told me I sounded young >:-/. I maybe 18 and quite unwell at times but that doesn't mean I can't speak up for myself! But if you have any questions you want answering or comments and opinions please let me know, come on lets watch these companies squirm mwahahahahaha
my company is Vitalair (BOC) and I haven't had any real problems. There were a few queries at first as I am a variable user of O2 - sometime OK for a couple of weeks then using lots of it over a few days. (I have CD and ZH cyliners with variable valves up to 15lts) At first they tried to fit me into a time table with regular use and deliveries. I think they have got the hang of it now that I only order when I need to. The one thing they won't do is take regular delivery orders over the w/e - only emergency ones! I phoned a Sat AM to order for the next week to be told to phone on Monday. I had enough but wanted to ensure I had some delivered by Tuesday if poss. They do have a free phone number which is good.
Accessories - I did finally get a carry bag for the CD which is very good. Tubing and masks, specs etc are no problem. I do have a Conserver too but only use it at home.
I think some people may have had problems with variable usage orders so the companies need to be flexible when it comes to brittle asthmatics. We don't fit into a neat timetable of needing it all the time with regular deliveries.
Hope this helps
Kate

i don't use O2, but they featured it on watchdog tonight - one company that are not delivering properly, not sure which company as didn't watch it - was on quiet when at my grans and i coudln't be rude and ignore her waffling on!
Kate, one thing that a few people have mentioned is tubing 'popping off' cylinders when they're using conservers with them, is this a problem for you too? I don't actually use one so I don't know.
Cal, Emily was on Watchdog this evening speaking at her problems with Allied respiratory you probably saw her lol.

Living in Devon I have been moved back to BOC or Vital Air. And oh the joy, my new V.A conserver has special fittings so it does not pop off and I don't need those fiddley metal bands thingies to hold it together. I call one day and they deliver the next. I think that Air Products were deemed unfit for the task and that is why the contract was moved back to V.A . They also deliver C/D 's (varible flow) without question getting them out Air Products was a nightmare. It just goes to show that it can be done properly. My only problem was I had a faulty (leaky) one that I took to a football match recently luckily I had spare in the car. Lesson learnt check cylinders before leaving the house. Had it been Air products I would not have had a spare cos there were not enough of their freedom 400's to allow people to keep a spare.
TKS give em hell.
Bex
Hey Bex think ive won for a bit with air products finally got four on the go but will still only deliver two at a time even though i have four!! so whem two gone ring and usually deliver the next day!! my conserver i bought had then horrid metel clamps, this one from air products is the same but they didnt supply the clamps and i cant for the life of me find my others!! What make is yours now?
