Amanda, I've never had anything remotely resembling the Be In Control pack from my doctor, no action plan, nothing. I didn't even know such things existed until I found this site. My advice would be to send for the pack - you can't lose by doing it.

Keep well.

I didnt till I came on here I feel like im being let down by the drs

defo think u should get all you can from the website, as i think we are all let down by the gp surgeries. they dont seem to be able to provide any information at all, let alone action plans, peak flow diaries, etc...

all i have needed to know, or needed, i have had from the website, or emailed/ posted to me from AUK as they are useless!!

Be prepared! scouts motto!

Yeah i know i got everything a could and now its just waiting to see the dr and my then everything will have worked and i will be normalish but it reminds me of the attack i had before i was diagnosed and the tightness i had about a week before it had the attack not that A&E knew i was having an asthma attack

A+E didnt know u were having an asthma attack?

how can they not know! some staff seriously need some education dont they, on what exactly asthma is, not just the 'textbook' cases of asthma, but real people.

I went upto the drs to do a job for my mum but i couldnt breath and my chest was really painful. My dr got me an amberlance where they took my blood o2 level and it was 65% when i got to A&E it had gone up to 70% by the time the dr saw me it was 3 hours after the main part of the attack. they have no idea and i didnt know it was asthma as i knew i had it when i was younger but i grow out of it.

wow scary! 3 hrs... x

Yeah i remember it too well

But then again the A&E where i am is rubish
