yeah, my p/flows 300 this morning but still getting very tight chest, its reall painful. Vent takes it off but not completely, took some gaviscon to make sure it wasnt indigestion- its not. Its def upper chest. Gp said chest wasnt bad what ever that means. Back on pred AGAIN.
Yep, don't know why though. I tend not to check mine unless something's really bothering me. Guess I'm a bit lazy!
I've mostly given up as it never seems to reflect how I feel - maybe it's because my problem is a bit weird and perhaps not really asthma. I hope your chest is feeling better Glynis - reliever working at all?
Been checking the last couple of days though 'just in case' something has changed - still the same, average for me though below consultant's idea of best and way below my idea of personal best. Readings always all over the place though, my technique seems to be rubbish and I can't understand why - same with lung function tests, I am a competent adult with singing experience but somehow I can't manage to use a PF meter properly and the readings always go up and down between attempts!
Does anyone else find it hurts to do PF if things are bad? Just tried and wish I hadn't because my ribs didn't like it at all!
Taking lots of reliever just could not understand why pf ok and asthma not to good. xxx
yep glynis i get this. was told by the resp team that you shouldnt put too much emphasis on pf and go more by how you are feeling...get yourself checked out petal xxx
Agree you shouldn't go by PF, maybe worth getting it checked out as jay39 says, if not improving.
After attack and oxygen and nebs last week and low sats 93-94 .pf up at the moment but asthma not right.I rang my hospital asthma nurse after attack in Manchester and seen at walk in centre and told me start pred if pf drops to 300 and go in if 250 and phoning me Wed or Thurs to see how im doing.Think could be like this recovering from it but will get seen if no better xxx
glynis how many times are u gonna ask the same question... to be told to go on your symptoms and any concerns to see ur gp. ur question is for medical staff to assess
My doctor said it was frustrating that my PF was good last week (450 I think) but sent me for chest xray anyway as my symptoms were bad and may do spirometry depending on result of that - Have had a chest infection for about 9 weeks, on 2nd course of antibiotics which just make me feel worse. Coughing is slightly better but get very breathless after just climbing the stairs or brisk walking. Also getting a lot of sticky mucus on my chest which is hard to shift, a result of infection. He fears lung damage but don't know yet.
