Too much information. LOL

Oh Glynis!

If you have constipation you are naturally out of breath any way so of cause it is going to affect your asthma.

Eat fruit and fibre or all bran for breakfast every day to avoid constipation.

ok made the mistake of innocently clicking on this whilst eating my cereal...

Anyways as Plumie suggest, plenty of fibre in your diet will help prevent constipation. I suffered a lot when I first went on my low salicylate diet last year and cut out a lot of fruit and veg. My asthma was ok at that point but I was on a long course of pred.

One of the most common constipation remedies is the use of laxatives. Laxatives can be found in many forms, everything from over the counter medicines to natural foods. One of the most effective and affordable laxatives on the market is mineral oil. People have been using mineral oil for constipation for generations. From your grandmother to her grandmother, this oil is one of the oldest constipation remedies that is still readily available today.

This oil works just like any other laxative. When you ingest the oil it moves through your body until it reaches the blockage somewhere in your intestinal track. The laxative works by coating and , therefore, the stool. The mineral oil also traps the stool moister, not allowing it to be absorbed by your body. The softer the stool is, the more easily it will pass in and out of your colon. Softer stool is also much less painful to pass. Compacted stool that has been drain of most of it moisture becomes very hard and can be extremely painful to eliminate.

In order to take the proper does of the oil, you may want to speak with your doctor. Once you are instructed as to how much of the oil to take, you may begin your treatment. It is recommended that you take this laxative before bed as it may take several hours for it to take effect. Once you've taken the oil the blockage will being to make it's way through your body. If you are still constipated after using mineral oil as a laxative, you may be in need of a more powerful constipation remedy. You should talk to your doctor if you have been constipated for more then a few days.
