Over the next few weeks you should notice some changes to the features of this message board. Please use this thread to give us your opinions of the changes!

Thanks for letting us know Steve, was wondering what was happening! I like the way it now says when the last post was to each topic. Makes catching up much easier.

Love

Steph xx

I would prefer having the time as well as the last post added bit. Or all postssince last viewed.

Do we have protection yet????

I agree, Louise. Posts since last logged in would be better.

And no; no changes on the security front.

Like it saying what ate last post was on but too would like a time added.

Ange

I agree - number of posts in each section since last log in would be really useful. Is there going to be a search facility? THat would also be useful as I often find myself trawling through old posts as I'm certain there was a thread about something a few months ago!

Cal

What other changes are in thepipeline, any chance of improving the non existant security.

Wanda

We now have a search function! Hurrah.

Security improvements and one or two minor updates are also in the pipeline.

Thank goodness for that!!! About time!!

any chance of being able to delete some of the sent pms that we accumulate like we can in inbox?

At the moment the message boards don't log sent and received PMs. Therefore, you cannot delete items from your sent folder as this is the only log that we have.

Hopefully this may be changed at some point in the future.

I like the new posts flags that have just appeared overnight - amke it much easier to catch up!

Yes, the ""new posts"" flag is the final part of this phase of upgrades to the message boards. Along with the quick links to pages in each thread and the indication of exactly when a thread was last posted to, this should make life much easier for everyone.

There are other changes in the pipeline, and of course the web developers would like to know if you members have any suggestions or comments, so please continue to post your ideas and remarks here!

Will you be able to tell us when we last logged in? It's easy to forget and I find myself reading posts I've already read as I cna't remember which ones I read!

That's what the ""new posts"" flag is for! It only shows up on threads that have been posted to since you last logged in.

kicking off clock

Hi Pete any chance of a little clock to say how long is left before needing to reenter e-mail and password when posting. I can't alway write fast coz brain and keyboard not alway connecting o well whats new hehe :) It's a pain when i have tryed to do pms and writen loads then goto submit and the reenter thing comes up then all that work is lost boho I know i'm not the only one please help

Love smiler

Hey,

happens to me sometimes you either just go back (back arrow on top of internet browser) or before you click 'submit' highlight all your post and right click 'copy'. If it asks you to enter your details again do it and when your blank page comes up right click on it and click on 'paste'.

hope this helps

Tks xxxxx

TKS's advice is very sound; I don't know how long the log in lasts for, but I would assume it was about 30 mins. However, it all depends on the mood your web browser is, so there's no way we could keep a clock or similar here on the boards.

Another way to get around the problem:

If you click to submit your post only to be told you need to log in, then enter your log in details as normal. You'll be returned to the main message board menu. Simply click the back button in your browser a few times (probably three) so you return to your message (which will still be there), then click submit again. Because you've recently logged in, your message will post as normal.

Thanks Tks and Pete i will try that next

lol smiler

new flags signpost tells you which threads have had new posts in as guide to which threads but not how many posted since your last visit - only sayy it as you can get very lost in camping2 trying to catch up sometimes - mind you it doesn't take a lot to confuse me!

Smiler - I'm Steve - hence ""Peaksteve"" - and not Pete ;)

CAL - That's always going to be the problem with popular threads like Camping2 and the Alphabet and Word Association game threads. I don't know of any message board that has any new post notification that is different to the one we're using here, though.

Have to agree new posts sign is great. Only prob is since I managed to become costafied for 8 days Its very overwelming to tryt and catch up on everything.

Changes happening are def making board more user friendly tho.

keep it up

Stupid old me. I read all the new posts before I logged in so have had to go through them all again to get rid of the new post message. Normally I only log on if I want to reply to a post - will have to change my habit I suppose.

Steve

Would be nice if the new post message could go / change colour once it has been looked at - whilst still logged in.

No Cathy your are no stupid, you are just like me - you’re just no the brightest button in the box - LOL.

I also ONLY login to post or check messages, and I find the flags to be an unwanted distraction also. So much so, that I regularly throw my wig out of the pram when I login to AUK.

Steve, I don’t want flags, because I never want to read all (unread) messages when I login.

Can you sort this please, as my wigs are getting a wee bit dirty being thrown oot the pram sae often.

Take hair,

Derek

Sorry, Deek, but the flags are here to stay. From a moderators point of view they are a godsend because it makes it much easier to keep track of which thread we need to read the new posts on. Plus these flags were the single most-requested feature whenever we asked folk what they'd like to see on the messageboard.

What I'm hoping for is the option to be automatically logged in every time you visit the site.

Cathy - that's a really good idea. I'll mention it to the site developers.

Yeah Steve, if the 'flagged' option is activated automatically every time you visit the site this would be a splendid idea.
