Singulair

I've been on singulair now for quite a while and since being put on it I have had indigestion, palpitations and lots of obscure dreams and hasn't done a great deal for my asthma. Somebody just told me that it hasnt actually been trialled yet!! do any of you know about anything about this?

In dont know about it not being trialled or not, I know that It did not agree with me, like you I had weird dreams and became totally irrational (worse than pmt !!), the last straw was went I went nuts come someone had eaten the last breakfast cereal then I knew that I was acting weird !!.

I saw my GP and she gave me a kids dosage to try but that just lessened the symptoms not made them go away so she told me to stop taking it as like you had not noticed any great improvement and weeeeh heeey I became normal again (whatever that is lol)

hi clare Ive been taking singulair for 13years so its been liscenced ages and as far as im aware all drugs are trialed prior to being liscenced. It does give some people wierd side effects though they do usually wear off after a week or so. See your gp if your worried about them or they're troublesome! Most side effects are just a pain in the rear but can affect peoples quality of life if this is you discuss things with your gp or consultant they may try a different kind of drug that suites you better. Hi Claire, try this link emc.medicines.org.uk/ type in singulair in the search box in the top right, you'll get a list of medications, pick a link with a yellow SPC box beside it if you can. This is all the information that is available for the drug, and is what the doctors see. The lue PIL link is whats made available to the general public, usually with the medications.

I've been on it since 2002 and it has most certainly reduced my night time asthmatic episodes and, none of the side effects others have noted.

Hi Claire,

Singular worked absolute wonders with me, at least for the first few months, it was brilliant. I have heard though it can take 2 months to take effect, although it helped much quicker with me, and the effect wears off quickly if I stop.

I experienced problems sleeping, but after a couple of months these wore off. I also had a weird feeling of feeling low, and can understand why there was a hoo haa recently about depression with it.

For me, it was certainly worth sticking with, as now I have no side effects, and it does a lot for me. But I know it doesn't work for everyone.

Hi Claire,

I can confirm that all drugs are extensively trialled before licensing for prescribing. Singulair can take a little while to work in some people, but for some unfortunately it never really has much of an effect.

Personally I found it great, particularly for exercise-induced asthma - I'm one of the lucky ones.

Do have a word with your doctor if you don't feel it's of any benefit.
