Not Muslim, but I know several people I could ask...what's the question?!
Hi
Thanks
It's a question to do with fasting and being asthmatic that needs answering tonight really as fasting starts at 430am!
Got a Muslim here with my daughter and I have not noticed any fasting. But fire away.
Ramadan starts tomorrow!
My question's related to the dfasting and my own asthma probs!
I have spoken to my handy Muslim and replied to your PM.
In essence fasting is not expected if medically it is not possible as it is not supposed to be some form of torture.

Bex is right, a friend who is a Muslim once told me that people with medical conditions can be exempt from fasting. He is healthy and gets up before dawn to have an early meal and fasts until dusk during Ramadan.
Ginny
Quite correct - somewhere I have reference to a letter from a leading Muslim religious leader which states exactly this. If fasting is likely to cause you physical or mental ill health, then you are not expected to fast - and if you need to take regular medications within fasting times, this is also allowable even if you do the full fast.
Good luck whatever you decide.
heya i'm a muslim and i dont fast do to medical reasons. it's correct if fasting is likley to bring you and harm mentally or physically then you are exempt. And also fasting is not nessecary if you are pre-pubertal(not ven sure if thats a word well if u you havent started puberty your classed as a child so fasting is in not obligatory )
PM me if you have any other questions!!!
