Strange...

My son was diagnosed with asthma 4 months ago and at the moment we are still trying to control it with various medication. It was thought that he caught a virus that brought on the asthma.

Well, this is the strange part! I suddenly started coughing 6 weeks ago, and put it down to the same virus that my son had picked up. After 2 courses of antibiotics I am still coughing and finding breathing difficult (may be due to the sore muscles) although the ventolin does give a little relief. I had the results of my chest xray yesterday and the Dr asked if I was still coughing, which I am. She said that there was some inflammation in my lungs that could mean asthma!! So, here I am writing this post at 5am because there is no point in trying to sleep and the cough only keeps my other half awake!

The Gp automatically saw the link between me and my son and I am trying to rack my brains to find a trigger. However, my other half, who has asthma, is not suffering at all at the moment - very strange....!

Has anyone else had a similar thing happen to them?

Hi, yep, I had severe asthma as a child. I got swine flu in October and asthma was irritated. Was told I had mild asthma or maybe borderline. I came to this site to get support as my Son has brittle asthma, now I've been told so do I. It's just so weird. I cant think of a trigger, Sons asthma is fine at the mo. My Sons asthma consultant thinks it maybe tree pollen that set mine off, I've got to try antihistamine and see if it helps me get some control back.My Son has got to try antihistamine too as he has problems in May which I was told is grass pollen and flower season.
