Very Bad Chest, Must Be The Weather?

Hi

First of all I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter and trust you are all keeping well.

Why does your Asthma play up when the doctors are closed. Chest is very tight fact if it gets any tighter it will snap (LOL) I have taken neb after neb not getting much relieve. Hospital will only give me more nebs.

Guess it must be the cold weather. Does anyone else have bother with their Asthma at the Moment

If you have taken 'neb after neb' you are sugesting you are not very well.

Please read the T + C's of the board

And please get help if you need it

From either NHS Direct or Call 999

happy easter to you too :)...yes I actually wasnt too good last night..had a bit of a wheeze and tight chest..not so bad today..keeping my fingers crossed I have a better night tonight..tell you what though if you have a nebuliser at home and it doesnt seem to be helping with the tight chest maybe you should pay a visit to casualty ?

The dampness affects my chest too and I know it's annoying knowing that A&E will only continue to give you nebs but at least they can monitor you and the effects of large quantities of salbutamol. It is not safe to stay at home and have neb after neb, you should have been given strict instructions on how to use a home neb machine!

If you are requiring more nebs, they are not helping or you are having difficulty breathing, you need to get medical advice. Either by calling a out of hours doctor or if your breathing is worse and your medication isn't helping dial 999 or get someone to take you to a&e. If required they can give you other medication, or even if it is more nebs on high doses you need to be monitered. This board can not give medical advice. Please read the terms and conditions

Asthma UK's forums are for debate and discussion. Especially, they are not a suitable place to obtain medical advice in an emergency. If you feel unwell or need advice in an emergency situation, help should be obtained from one of the following sources:

Your local GP service - either your surgery, or, if closed, the local out-of-hours centre; some regions also have NHS Walk-In Centres

NHS Direct - a nurse-led advice line which can provide medical advice, or call an ambulance if needed - telephone 0845 46 47

Dialling 999 for an emergency ambulance, or by going to your local Accident & Emergency department.

Asthma UK's own guidance for what to do in an asthma attack""

Gloomy - In my experiance you really can't determin how severe or mild someones asthma is cause they only take certain medication or not as much as others. There are reasons why some people can't have certain medication or they may have tried it and it not helped.

Sorry - have edited post!

Gloomey, you didn't have to edit your post, i wasn't having a go, it is just something i've noticed. I know a severe asthmatic on very litle medication as they are allergic to alot, it doesn't agree with them, and also other medical conditions affect the medication. It is just something we all have to be careful of as this person would get enough trouble with doctors never mind fellow asthmatics. It wasn't me having a go at you as a moderator, which is why i put it after i signed off as a moderator, it was just a comment about something i have noticed coming from alot of people.
