I generally get a nasty cough which always goes to my chest. It's normally nice and juicy, lol. Anyway, everytime I cough, (atm, I can cough up, not like superglue yet....) I get what I can only describe as sharp stabbing pains in my chest right down the middle where the breast bone is. it ends up being really sore to touch too.
Thing is, being ill is one of my particular triggers and I just know that by the time I want to go to bed tonight we'll be having one of those marathon coughing fits. It all kinda started yesterday, I ache all over, head is groggy, etc, it's my wife-to-be's fault, she had it all last week and half of this week, lol, women huh! hehehehe.
Does anyone else suffer with a cough like this when they get a cold, bug or whatever or am I just a weirdo? To boot, my pf is 300, best is 540, probably shouldn't be at work, just having a whinge as I feel crap, lol
Very annoying as it's the mother-in-law to be's 60th tomorrow and we're all going to London for the weekend (cosmic, I work in London all week, and now I''m spending the weekend here!!) We're going to see the musical We Will rock You, supposed to be really good.
yes i get the same too, i horrible cough with the pain down the front of your best done, ""my doctor say it is the muscle playing up, take some pain killers,""( i am not advising you to take pain killers) but i understand how you feel , it no laughing matter. hope you feel better soon

Bless you. I can totally relate to your problem. I had my first ever asthma attack a few months ago. I've had asthma since i was 13 years old. It really scared me.
The doctor has given me some emergency steroids to take as soon as i start a cold rather then taking them when my cough gets bad.
My tips are:
* Steam - this really helps me when i'm coughing.
* Try and sleep propped up with a few pillows.
* Ventilation, i always make sure theres air flowing in the bedroom.
* Plenty of warm drinks, this will help sooth the inflamation & keep your airways relaxed.
* Vick - I always rub abit on my chest.
* Most importantly REST!
All of the above help me if i have a cold. Really hpe you get better soon X
Thanks Julie and Lyndsay, well surprise surprise, it put me in hospital tonight FFS.
Perhaps this will finally teach me not to be soooo pig headed and that just because I feel alright that I'm not especially when my peakflow is telling me otherwise.
Hi Meady
The pain sounds like it could pleurisy, which is inflammation of the linning of the lung, I had the same thing with my last chest infection and it was really painful or it could be painful to cough due to pulling or straining a muscle but I think the best thing would be to see your doctor and get a professional oppion
