Risking Lives.

It never fails to amaze me the number of people with asthma who, it seems would rather risk their lives than go into hospital. I've lost count of the number of times I've read posts on the forum where it's only delayed the inevitable. It's dicing with death. As many of you know my daughter died from asthma but what you do not know is that Bernadette had a complete cardio-pulmonary arrest, which resulted in her being resuscitated 3 times. Although they were successful she suffered catastrophic brain damage and was in a coma for 10 weeks before she eventually passed away. This is the reality of asthma and whilst I don't want to worry anyone unnecessary I'd ask you to be aware of what the consequences of your actions maybe. If this makes one person re-think their response regarding seeking medical attention then the pain of reliving my own experience will have been worth it.

Thank you for this post, a timely reminder for all I feel. I am sorry for your loss, I cannot begin to imagine how you feel. I am new to this site but not new to asthma. I have been in hosp twice in the past two mths but have to admit I dont like to ring for an ambulance. Why should we feel bad though as we could be putting ourselves in grave danger as you have rightly pointed out. If I need to dial 999 again I will think of you & not delay it. Thank you.

Love
