it will get better

Dear Dawn123

Things will get easier eventually when your on the right combination of meds to control that wheeze, as for sleeping, well that gets better too once the steroids are out of your system. Its just a juggling act at the beginning to get the right combination of inhalers that works for you.

Keep going back to the doctors especially if your still wheezy, you may need more meds to see you through this episode.

Very best of luck and hope you feel better and get some sleep soon.

Hi Dawny

You're not alone! I've never quite got my head round the way asthma affects every other part of my life and every time I get a flare up it surprises me all over again - maybe I'm just not very quick on the uptake lol.

You're in the right place if you want to have a rant, ask questions or just have a little whinge 'cos you're feeling a bit fed up.

As for needing sleep - me too! I've been getting in from work and falling asleep in my chair, and I even managed 10 minutes this morning after I got home from my swim. Take advantage of any time you can get a few minutes to relax and/or doze, it all helps!

Thanks for that I've found this site to be great, the trouble is i have nt seen an asthma nurse yet to sort out my meds they told me to wait 6 weeks for all the meds to be out my system so they can assess me ive had two days this month where i was ok .Its the cough its so bad pretty constant (is this normal?)and producing a lot of plem which is annoying the blue inhslor helps temporary but i seem to be using it an awful lot .

Hi Dawny, I was diagnosed in exactly the same way as you about 18 months ago. Make sure you get whatever flu jabs are going (you will qualify for free ones now you are diagnosed) as I have been getting chest infections after every silly little cold, (so flu is the last thing you need), until the GP started me on Seretide (purple inhaler) after the Clenil (brown inhaler) wasn't working. The persistent cough and mucus is normal but can be improved with the right medication, it just takes a while to work it out - they start you on the lowest levels rather than put you on high doses straight away just to work out what works for you, so be patient but persisitent with your GP! I am on the lowest dose of Seretide and its really helping, but the doc want to withdraw it after a few months as the side effects aren't good. Hope you get sorted fairly soon and get some sleep!

Karen

Hi Dawny

Does your surgery have emergency appointments? If so it might be worth trying to get one as it sounds as if you're having a bad time at the moment.

Another bad night and another course of prednisole and antibiotics. I feel soo low tonight just want to cry and im at work in a couple of hours, cant seen to get on top of things im back to docs tomorrow i need for them to bring my appointment closer with the asthma clinic.
