Immunotherapy

My asthma is allergy based (pollen and dust) and as it's been poorly controlled for the last three months I'm trying to find some specific allergy treatments. Just wondering if anyone here has tried immunotherapy or knows anyone who has.

My daugthers asthma is partly allergy based, I can't comment on anything else but would suggest talking to your consultant about Omalizumab, my daughter is only 10, she has no pneumococcal antibodies and is a brittle asthmatic, she spends loads of time in HDU and her consultant has said that without this treatment she is going to have a fatal attack, she has been on the Omalizumab for a couple of months now and it has made a huge difference already, her chest is clear and her exersise tollerance is much better, her spirometery is better too, she is still on all her pred but I would say that it has been life changing for her. I chose this as it has the least side effects as she is fast running out of options. I hope that you find something to suit you.

Allergies

I have been taking Singulair ever since it came out about 6 years ago. This has helped considerably with damping down allergic reactions. Although I get breathless sometimes and use serevent and ventolin inhalers I have not had an asthma attack since using singulair. Some members of my extended family also use it and find it helps. Others have found their GPs refuse to prescribe it. It appears to work well or not at all. I tried immunotherapy in the 1970's, I was allergic to everything I was tested for! The injections left me with a swollen arm and didn't seem to improve things. There is also the chance of a bad reaction. Hope you find something to help.
