As far as I am aware of - and after a quick scour of the web via Astra-Zenica etc, all say that it is not to be used as reliever only as preventer, and I couldn't find any details of trials relating to the contrary.

Pulmicort is a steroid only inhaler and has no 'relieving properties' on its own.

Only when it is combined with Oxis and becomes Symbicort can it be used as a 'Reliever' under the SMART system. You get the relief from the Oxis component and a quick boost of the steroids as an anti-inflamatory preventer.

Hope this helps!
